TAMPA BAY, FL -- It could be a glimmer of hope for the housing markets. Pending home sales were expected to drop in August, but instead, they went in the other direction. Sales were up nationwide by nearly eight percent. There was an even stronger showing in Florida.
Veteran Tampa real estate agent Vince Arcuri with ERA and www.headofrealestate.com says the numbers offer hope that the housing markets will rebound faster than once thought. "We've seen a pretty steady stream of sales, despite the economic conditions," Arcuri told ABC Action News reporter Chris Martinez.
Arcuri says buyers are taking advantage of the plummeting home prices. But, he says the key now is for the big bailout plan to kick in and get the credit markets moving again. Arcuri says, "there's an ample supply of people who want to buy that are unable to get loans." Once that sector gets moving again, Arcuri says you'll start to see even more home sales in the pipeline.
