Homebuilder giving away free Smart Cars

Tampa - Lennar Homes has a deal right now that's bound to get buyers walking through their doors. You buy a select home in one of their select communities and they throw in a Smart Car to sweeten the deal. Lennar has 22 communities in areas like New Tampa, Riverview and Lakeland to name a few.
John and Edna Miller bought their new home in a Lennar community in Riverview before the promotion started. The Miller's say they're not second guessing their decision to go ahead and buy because they say they got all kinds of special incentives. John Miller says "It's so great. We got upgrades like granite countertops and all the upgrades in the bedrooms." Most real estate agents will tell you that now is the time to buy. They say sales are picking up and these types of special incentives and good deals won't last forever. Chrisje Mays is a realtor with Prudential Tropical Realty. She says "I've seen incentives but they're getting bigger. With a Smart Car that's a pretty big incentive that's a little bit better than granite countertops."
But Mays says for some customers in the market for a home time really is running out for them. "Especially for the first time home buyers or home buyers that need assistance getting into a home because of income restrictions. We have programs such as Nehemiah and AmeriDream which are down payment assistance programs that are going away October First."
AmeriDream Downpayment gift program is a downpayment assistance program that allows low to moderate income individuals and families to receive money to put toward the downpayment of their home. They never have to repay the gift. Each year thousands of homebuyers use the program to purchase homes.
The Nehemiah program is a similar program that has helped more than 275,000 individuals and families buy homes. The program offers funds for both first time and repeat homeowners. It's money that you don't have to repay. There are no income or asset limits either.
The Smart Car deal with Lennar homes ends on August 31st and there are some rules in order to qualify. The company is also allowing people who stop by their welcome home centers to register for a special giveaway in which a Smart Car will be awarded.
